WHY WE DO THIS WORK
We’re the Growing Forward Garden Project, an emerging nonprofit dedicated to the belief that nurturing plants also nurtures people.
Our mission is to inspire a love of nature, sustainability, and community throughout the Greater Yuma Region. Through hands-on gardening experiences, we aim to give youth the skills, confidence, and leadership opportunities that help them and their community grow.
WHY YUMA NEEDS THIS GARDEN
Yuma’s community gardens are valuable resources, and we're building on that foundation with a vision that fosters learning across generations. Ours will be the first garden in Yuma specifically designed to give young people hands-on opportunities to learn, grow, and lead, while creating a unique space for mentorship and shared experience for the whole community. Together, we will cultivate a vibrant space where education, sustainability, and community come to life for everyone.
HOW YOU HELP US GROW
We’re in the early stages of creating something truly special, a community-centered garden where the community can dig into the earth, learn where their food comes from, and discover their potential to lead and thrive.
Your support will help cover essential start-up costs, including:
- Securing a site for the garden
- Purchasing seeds, soil, and essential equipment
- Preparing the garden for our first growing season
